70D Mode Dial Failure?

I'm a new hobby level photographer and have been shooting with my 70D for about 6 months. Over the memorial weekend my camera started acting strangle when rotating the mode dial. I'm hoping I've just changed a setting somewhere and this is an easy fix...

When I turn the mode dial to AV/TV/M the camera refuses to move into this function. It either picks P, CA, or SCN. I've tried resetting all settings back to factory, cycling power, and pulling the battery. Physically the dial doesn't feel loose or any different than it did when new. Any ideas are welcome as I leave for Glacier National Park next week on vacation and don't really have time to ship it off to Canon for warranty before I leave.

I don't think I've ever had that happen, but I've had issues with the dials over the years. My solution was to use a blower to blow out the dirt and sand that had accumulated under the dial. I don't think that will fix it, but in case there's some junk messing with the electrical contacts, it might be worth a try before packing it up and sending it to Canon.

I got the camera in Nov in a sales contest at work so I don't have the option to return it. Living in TX I'm not anywhere near the Canon repair locations (although that would have been nice.) When I contacted Canon they did not mention the option of a certified repair location. How would I go about finding out if there is one in the area?

If you just got it in November, it's very likely that it's still under warranty. All you need is a proof of purchase and I'm sure someone in Accounting at work has the receipt. Get a copy of that, fill out the form on this page, then follow the instructions and mail it in for a free repair :)
