I have done over 2000 shots and some video since the update and have not come across this. I only use canon batteries and Sandisk extreme cards. I wonder if it is a issue with units from a certain batch?

Sounds like it is related to the autopower off function. Disabling it is the work around. I always use the power switch, but if I have a problem, I'll disable APO.
