Hi, sorry if this has been brought up and answered already, but I rented a 7d mk ii for the week and in al servo mode, it always seems to want to focus on the background, behind the subject. I am only using the center focus point. Out of the 900 pictures I took yesterday, only maybe 150 were in absolute focus. The ones that weren't in focus, I could see the background was crystal clear. I am shooting birds and when I turn on my focus points on the PC the center is right over the center of the bird, but the background is in focus. What do you think I'm doing or is set wrong? Thanks for your help.

Jeremy

are you sure you had the focus point on the bird and not the background when you engaged the af? it's supposed to stick on whats ever under it in most of the case settings.

being its a rental maybe some settings have been changed. try resetting the camera to defaults and then try it. standard case 1 is good all around. i use large zone and single point expansion mostly.

Yeah, I had it square on the bird. The AF is constantly moving, I can hear it, seems to be going from back to front to back. Towards the end of the day, I started watching it through the viewfinder, and that's exactly what it was doing. I looked through all of the settings, they were all at default. I have it on case 2 right now. I'm using the EF 400mm 5.6 with the 1.4 III, and I only ever use the center point. With my 50D, I can't use the extender, but I have zero problems with focus. I'll look through my pictures and find an example. Thanks
