7D on AI Servo won't fire 580EX II assist beam

I've read a post about AI Servo and AF Back focus button but I noticed that when I attached an external flash it won't fire an assist beam, is there something wrong with my setting or 7D does not fire a beam when on AI Servo mode?

The AF assist beam will not go off when in AI Servo. Also the camera has to be set to one shot.

Assist beam only works with one shot mode, and its completely logical, because ai servo is a continuous focus track, and for that you should need an assist beam what is always on, but its not possible, so... Get used to it : )

Just in case anyone was wondering, this is the same for all Canon EOS cameras. (not just the 7D)

If it worked in AI Servo mode, you'd have the red light in all your images.

The red light could be disabled right as the mirror flips up. The AF is blind anyways and LEDs have no afterglow, no real troubles.
