a new 550D or a used 40D ?

Hi.

I will be getting my first DSLR soon, however, I am really confused between getting a new 550D or a used 40D.

My photography is focused on portraits, still life and street photography.

And for the lenses, I am considering :
Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 for street photography -outdoor-
Canon EF 50mm - f/1.4 for portraits and still life photography -indoor & outdoor-

So, which is a better choice a 550D or a 40D ? and what about the lenses ?

Lens are fine although the 15-85 is better

As for the body:

- 40D is older with 10mps and 6.3fps

- 550D has 18mps and 3.7fps

For your requirements I would guess pixels count more than frame rate.

Used prices in the UK are about the same for both - in the region of £300-£350
