<p><strong>The Bad News?

</strong>I was told by one person that Canon will announce 3 compacts on August 23 and another 2 on September 15. None of them will be a new “G” camera.</p>
<p>Also omitted? No DSLR announcement on either date.</p>
<p>A DSLR or 2 is coming in 2011, they just may not be coming before IFA.</p>

Perfectly normal. Powershot are usually announced before DSLR. What worries me most is we don't have any strong rumors about DSLR that should be announced soon after. Nikon people don't have a clue also about their new DSLR.

Looking at previous announcements, Canon often announced compacts and then DSLRs on the same day or some time later. Can't wait!

As time is relative, one could say that they sometimes announce DSLRs before compacts. I think this now covers all possibilities of an announcement date: before, at the same time, or possibly afterwards.

S100 possibly tho! I love my S95, I can't imagine what they will/could change to make me want to upgrade tho :\ I've heard more zoom and more megapickles...I really hope they don't change the ring (fnc) as it's awesome.

I am awating Canon to decide what bridge to buy. I had the Fuji HS20, but returned, because it
was too "inconsistant and swinging" in IQ.

I would like to see y´the update of SX30, with less MP and better low noise/AF performance.

Well how about sme stock soon then? 5D2's seem a plenty with prices dropped and every man and dog throwing in battery grips and batteries (just coincidence, i know), 1Ds3 unofficially doesn't exist, and have you tried getting a 1D4? No - well, there aren't that many of them available to purchase in the UK.

Canon compacts - absolutely brimming with them - can't pop into a shop selling digital compacts without seeing something with 'Canon' written on it.

Maybe Canon are trying to tell us they're getting out of the DSLR game altogether?
