Big Magapixel Camera in EOS-1Dx or EOS 5D Mark III style body ?.

Would you prefer the rumored Canon “big megapixel” camera to be in a EOS-1Dx or a EOS 5D Mark III style body ?.

Key here is price. At $10,000 for the 1Dx form factor and $5,000 for the 5D form factor, I'll spend less money compromise. Also what about AF, etc.

I prefer the 1D form factor, but not at $10,000.

I'm hoping for a EOS 5D Mark III style body at a price point close to that of the Nikon D800. Can't see it happening given that the EOS 5D Mark III is already more expensive than this. Spec compromises would likely be required, being a landscape photographer a less sophisticated AF system (or even MF) would suit me. But I expect i'm in the minority here. I have also never used the HD video features.

I pre-ordered a 1Dx last year but the 5D MkIII became available first and I went for it instead and cancelled my 1Dx pre-order (I couldn't afford to buy both). Ever since, I've had the feeling that I missed a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'd swap my 5D MkIII for a 1Dx in a heartbeat, but unfortunately my current financial situation won't now allow it. I prefer the 1D form factor, so if another opportunity should arise, I'd definitely choose a 1D over a 5D. Another lesson I learned was NOT to be an early adopter ... apart from any technical issues, I could have saved myself almost £1000 if I could have waited (subsequent price drop plus Canon cash back).

5D3 body with a $4500 price. My problem is that I really don't need more resolution than the 5D3 already has but, then again, I'm not trying to sell 40" x 60" landscape prints as corporate decoration.

+1 to the AF and video...but I know Canon considers these vital to the product's success.

gferdinandsen, I expect that numerous landscape and studio photographers could do without the high spec AF and video. So how about a split in the range, one with all the gadgets for events and nature photographers etc and a cheaper priced version for the landscape and studio photographers.
