I am in the situation where i do a lot of interior low light images. I am not allowed to use flash. I have been using my 5d III but was wondering if the 1dx perform better in low light at higher iso? I do at times do continuous shooting and know that 1dx does 12 frames per second.

Would it be worth the upgrade?

The 1D X is a bit better at high ISOs, slightly less noise (perhaps 0.5 stops at reasonable high ISO; it's more than that at ISO 51200 and higher, but I don't consider those usable anyway) and a bit more DR (2/3 of a stop or so). The 12 fps is certainly nice in fast-moving situations. The customization is a lot better, and the build is much more robust. If you use a grip on the 5DIII, the 1D X is better on a tripod. It's also heavier and bulkier.

I love my 1D X, and have no regrets that I didn't get the 5DIII instead. Is it worth it? Only you can decide that, depending on your budget and the opportunity cost of the difference in price.

In addition to what Neuro has offered, you can always scale the 5D III image down to 18mp, and reduce your noise. I am not sure you would completely close the gap, but it is probably a much cheaper solution than actually going out and buying the 1D X. You wouldn't really be losing anything that way either...if you bought the 1D X, you would only have 18mp anyway. ;)
