Butterflies, Moths and Assorted Insects...

Here I am on a birding holiday, just one bird so far but here are the third and fourth butterflies. The R7+RF100-400mm is so convenient for these shots. Speckled Wood and Silver Fritillary.

Marbled-White butterflies and Brown Silver-line Moth. (R5/RF100-400mm). The moth is tiny and usually visible at night. I must have disturbed it while walking along. The Butterfly in Flight flew in to disturb the resting one.

First time that I came across a lesser purple emperor (apatura ilia).
It's German name is "Kleiner Schillerfalter", translated "lesser shimmer butterfly".
The last picture shows, why.
It is listed in the Red List BAY as "V, potentially threatened".
R6m2 @500mm

And here are the most interesting shots from today: first few are the only known (at least for me!) species of Xylocopa (Xylocopa sonorina - female) on Hawaii. And after that something I'm not able to ID (it could be also just heavily covered by pollen?! Strange pattern if that is the case!). I'm aware there are Xylocopa sp. in the world with similar +/-yellow marks but neither of them is officially reported for Hawaii. Note also the difference of the color of the wings between thees two!
