Camera Connect/Camera Window remote shooting and RAW files

I assumed when I got the Canon G7X that I could shoot RAW files when using the remote software (Camera Window) on my iPhone. After I got the camera and tried it, I learned that remote shooting only lets you take jpg photos even when the camera is set to shoot RAW. I am not talking about transferring files to my phone. I can understand the need for those to be smaller so they don't take forever to transfer. All I want to do is remotely shoot RAW files. Now Canon has come out with Camera Connect to replace both the EOS and Powershot remote apps. However, I tried the new software last night and it still only allows me to remotely shoot jpgs. Anyone know why it is limited this way or a way to get around the limitations placed by Canon? It seems like a simple remote trigger should be able to shoot whatever type of file the camera is set to record.
