Canon 5D Mark III in Stock - BestBuy $ B&H???

Just Notice http://www.usa.canon.com listed both BestBuy and B&H have stock for Canon 5D Marck III body only right now. What does this mean? if B&H really have the camera in stock, how come they still didn't tell us anything?

It doesn't mean anything. This just means that when it is for sale, you can buy them from there. However, I pretty much promise you that once they sell out, this on Canon's site will still say in stock. I think you are really looking for a problem that isn't there.

I believe the cameras were just shipped to them. B&H and Adorama are of the Jewish religon and are closed on Saturday. We will likely get emails on Monday and/ or Tuesday. Adorama did a test credit card authorization of $1.00 on Thursday, so I know they are getting ready to ship.

I expect that receiving, packing and shipping 10,000 cameras over a period of few days is going to stress out a lot of workers. Thats on top of their other orders. I have a tough time even comprehending the amount of work they have to do.

When you search Nikon d800 it says coming soon; Canon still says pre-order.

Back in the days of Desert Storm, news media would call a "Dominos Alert" indicating that the Pentagon staff was in for a long overnight and that something was up.

I wonder if we could canvas the Pizza Shops in New York to alert us to the "overnight experience" over there at B&H or Adorama.

chatted with a B&H rep the other day and they said they will start shipping as soon as they came in, this was in response to me asking if they had to wait until 3-22.

My local shop just called me saying they'd have some Monday afternoon if I wanted to come in.

I wonder if there's been a semi-secret loosening of the 'official' release date, in response to Nikon moving up their release date in reaction to Canon's announcement of the 5Dmk3's release date.

At least, I read here somewhere that Nikon changed the D800 date to 3/16, although I don't know if any places actually have it yet.

I'm afraid that doesn't mean too much. You might still have to wait till 3-22. If there is an official "land" date, stores can ship before then, but will have to put a hold on the ship so it doesn't actually arrive on your door before the release date. Think "Harry Potter" books. Amazon received and shipped many books before the official release, but they sat at the final fed-ex depots awaiting the date.

end of this week/beginning of next week according to two Canon Australia reps. sounded roughly like CRGuys' March 22nd release date to me.
