Canon 6D GPS How to turn OFF OFF camera AND GPS?

Newbie here!

Have a 6D and I like the camera a lot. Just have one problem that I tried to get solved via Canon but failed.

If I turn the GPS on it drains the battery in a few days even if I have the slowest update speed.

Is there any way to turn the camera OFF OFF meaning all is off including the GPS?

I can only think off assigning the C1 with some basisc setting and GPS switched off. Before you turn off the camera, switch to C1 and then turn off the camera. That is a 2-step handling. Better than going into the Menu and switch off GPS and turn of the camera.

It's only OFF if the setting in the menu is set to "disabled". If GPS is set to "enabled" and you switch the camera OFF, the "GPS" indicator on the top LCD will still be on, depending on the setting it will refresh the GPS data every xx seconds, which drains the battery.

On my 6D I have put the GPS menu on the top of the favourite menu. Switching the GPS setting from "disable" to "internal GPS" is then quickly done.

I do wish there was a "toggle GPS on/off" function that could be assigned to a button though. I myself never use the AE lock (* button), I'd love to be able to assign that button to the GPS toggle function.

Great idea, I tried it just now, but the GPS setting (ON or OFF) does not seem to be one of the settings that is saved in the custom profile.

So saving settings with the GPS on to C1, then switching the GPS off and setting the mode dial to C1 does not switch the GPS on again (or the other way around, using C1 as the setting to turn the GPS off).

This is what I do. When I am out for a day of shooting, I turn GPS on in the morning, then off again at the end of the day. It doesn't drain the battery (too much). And just takes a second. The only issue is remembering.
