Canon Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of PowerShot With A Limited Edition G7 X Mark III

My experience with all the PowerShots I have owned is that something ‘mechanical’ happens after 30-40k shutter actuations. The shutter or IS gets ‘sticky,’ or the complex non-linear guides on the collapsing zoom/focus lens barrels get worn down and loose.
That’s because you’ve not been a 1 series owner ;-)
I got the original G1X around 2013 and used it quite extensively, including some camera abuse; I once dropped it down the Swallow Falls in Wales. Fortunately it was switched off at the time, and came to rest against a tree half way down, where, with some trepidation I was able to recover it. Once I got the G1Xiii I gave it to a friend of mine who has since taken it all round the world, and it’s still going strong thirteen years later. My mark iii it nine years old and…….I don’t want to tempt fate !!
Despite what the internet reviewers say about the 1” sensor vs either 1.5 (G1X) or APS-c (G1Xiii) I have found the larger sensors to be much better IQ.
