Now that Canon has released the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS, how long do you think it will be - if at all - until there is a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L IS? - a Mark III if you like, although of course Mark I and II do not have IS.

IMHO there will be no Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III and no Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L IS.
Seeing Nikon having this beloved by everyone uwa 14-24mm f/2.8 and looking at the recent rumors,
Canon will be going a similar way with a 12/14-24 f/2.8. Whether with or without IS... I am not sure.
Looking at the 24-70 II without IS Canon might trade it for IQ and leave IS to the f/4, so there is another differentiation.
Release?
Maybe in 2015. Alongside the high MP FF DSLR.
If that's delayed, then we'll also have to wait longer for that uwa refresh as well.
The question is around what path they will follow. Will it be like the 70-200 f/4 IS & f/2.8 IS II with 4 years between them or like the 24-70 f/2.8 II & f/4 IS with around a year between them?
