Canon EOS 5D Mark III announcement on March 2nd?

For now, let's all cross our fingers and hope this dream becomes a reality in 48 hours of time.

Yes - Craig has confirmed they're people with NDAs expiring then. I'd imagine we would have heard if that's changed.

3250 Euros if the Google translate of one of the pages is correct.

Hmm. £2750 or $4400. I'd imagine the UK price could be higher than the straight currency conversion though?

That sounds like a reasonable price for a camera+lens package - not for a "body only".

The 5D MkII list price was around that 2500 Euros or £2300. Given 3 or so years, and possibly moving the 5D up in terms of the professionality of the line/features possibly, I think we might see the list price be nearer £3000 though retailers will start slowly discounting. Seeing that Canon aren't mentioning a line between the 5D and the 1DX, it makes sense for the 5D MkIII to be higher priced (giving the option of changing prices for the lower model lines and "allowing" them to have more space to add features but still keeping differentiation of lines.

Devil's advocate - for £2750, the cheapest bundled lens would likely be the 24-105mm at say £600 extra as part of the bundle. So that'd have the 5D Mark III at £2100 - £200 cheaper than the 5D was at launch !

This is what confuses me: I have been seeing a lot of speculation pointing towards the 5D3 being the new eos body geared towards cinema. But at the same time, we saw the official canon image foreshadowing the new eos cinema camera as being a full size pro body with a "c" in the place where the eos model badge is located (ex. EOS 1D). This would lead me to think that the 5D3 is not the new eos cinema camera that has been put into development. Since we know that the 5DII is not a full size pro body the 5D3 also should not be. Anybody else remember this? Any thoughts?

With sudden leaks of invitations, and Craig updating the page, it seems like things has just got a bit brighter. The question is, are those invitations associated with the highly anticipated camera, or is it just a Rebel like someone suggested? March 2nd, it's either heaven or hell for most of us. The 5D III for sure is becoming a reality in a short period of time. Just how short? In less than 48 hours?

Historically, Euro prices for equipment have been quite a bit higher than the straight conversion would suggest. At 3250 Euro even something as low as $3500 wouldn't be too shocking.

Example: 5D Mark II kit list price at review time (via DPreview)
• US: $ 3,499
• EU: € 3,299
• UK: £ 3,049
