Canon more expensive?

Hi!

Today, I wanted to buy my dreamlens: The big white 600mm.
But when I looked at the online-shop, the price went up some hundred Euros at three shops. Is there an general price increase at Canon, or just an coincidence?

I looked at: www.photospecialist.de (Yesterday 10.599€ today 11.400€), Calumetphoto.de (went up 400€).
Ok, then this just an coincidence and those shops do not sell this lens as cheap as they did for weeks.

I bought my 600II in June. while prices were going down in US, in Europe they were going up at that moment. I could agree with my dealer to buy at that moment the last one he had in stock for the old price. It's not only the currency exchange from $ against €. When I see around right now, I see prices from 11000 till 12000€ over here in Belgium.
I stopped to buy pro gear from webshop. Yes, I do compare prices, and go then with the best price to my dealer and ask what he can arrange for me.

Europe, USA, etc prices are somewhat driven by the value of local currency versus the Japanese Yen.

The Euro has been consistently dropping versus the Yen while the US Dollar has been rising. That explains some of the price increase. Canon seems to extract more profit from European sales as well.
