Canon movie competitor to Sony VG20 and Sony FS-100

I have all Canon DSLR's and lot's of lenses. The new Canon Movie EOS is a bit high end at $20,000 dollars but I would love to be able to use my lenses with a less expensive large sensor video camera from Canon. I use the Sony VG10 now and am going to need to purchase a total of at least 3 of that camera, the FS-100, or (new Canon camera) over the next few months.

The optimal Canon video camera would be somewhere between the $2000 VG20 and the $5000 SF-100 and would be a no brainer to purchase, especially if it has a timecode in the file for synching multi cameras.

I purchased the Bower adapter to use my Canon lenses on the VG10 that I'm using, but it only allows manual aperture so it is very limited in the applications I can use the Canon lenses with it.

There is a Birger adapter coming out in the next few months that promises fully automatic settings with the Canon lenses when used on the Sony cameras and it is estimated to be about $700.

At this point it looks like I'll be going with the Sony's + the Birger mount unless Canon comes out with a competitor?

Also, once you get a few of the Sony's with lenses, it makes a lot of sense to pick up a couple of the Sony NEX cameras since they are compatible and small. There have been a couple rumors on the site about Canon coming out with a NEX dslr competitor but nothing recently.

Any one else in the same situation? Heard of any other options?

Canon not releasing cameras in line with the VG20 and FS100 was kind of a buzz kill. Between those and the NEX ILC cameras, I often wish I'd gone with Sony over Canon.

The only thing that stopped me (and still does) is the lack of video in a full-frame DSLR. I need the flexibility of being able to switch from photo to video nearly instantaneously, but be able to use high quality glass in a pure video setting as well.

The EOS C DSLR is a nice start, but not the form factor I need (and likely $5K+). It's tough in the no man's land between photo and video.

I was hoping for this as well. I don't have all of that yet, but I'm hoping Canon does something like this soon. I'm about to buy the 60d to solve my short term needs, but I have been debating on getting a couple of VG20's instead.

At least the 60d will solve my need for stills for a while and I can do some video with it. But I really want Canon to release an affordable video camera. As video is my real need right now.
