If you can make a lens using optically perfect diamond, it'll can bend the light enoughIf it just was this simple with super wide angle lenses. The problem isn't directly the aperture size, it's that a single surface of glass can't bend the light enough (damn you, physics!), so you need to do it in multiple steps.
Also ther're nanostructures which already can bend the light in laboratories.
