Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM Confirmed for 2024 [CR3]

Paging @roby17269, report to this thread.
Aaaaaaaggghhh!
Be still my heart!
I am skiing on the Italian central alps… and this rumor comes along! How am I supposed to worry about not breaking my old knees now?1?
I want to be happy, but after so much disappointment and conflicting rumors…
Please Canon make this true… and soon! :D

Who needs knees when there's an RF 35mm f1,2 coming? ;)

Aren't you offended by this part of the post?
The speed difference won't make much difference in real-world shooting, but it will help the marketing department.

Just focus on and enjoy the slope. The lens won't be under your Christmas tree.
So skiing is more important - and joyful - yet. :p

I've already told you I saw it coming in the entrails of a roadkill. So, don't be skeptical, entrails don't lie! Never! :)

I fear that my spending with Canon hasn't ended. The RF 24-105 f/2.8 and 200-800 back-to-back with an R1 and possible R5II hot on its heels? Now this? In theory, I reality, I really don't use 35mm much for professional work. I used it a lot when I shot weddings, but I don't shoot them anymore. It will have to be what I tell myself when they launch this lens - I really DON'T need it and my Sigma Art 24mm and 35mm lenses that I picked up for well under $800 for the pair serve me well...that's what I have to keep telling myself! haha

Yeah, I own the EF Sigma 35/1.4 Art and find that I don't love using it anymore, even for weddings. The honeymoon is over, so to speak.

Next year, I want to upgrade to the RF 15-35/2.8 and 70-200/2.8, then throw one of those on each body (R6) and be good to go for the whole wedding day.

Nope, don’t care… it matters to me and that’s all the reasons I need right there :ROFLMAO:
And rationally… indeed 1.2 and 1.4 are not that different. But if I had listened to my rational side in the last few years I wouldn’t have the toys I have

Yeah, not even a measly 200-800 under that tree :ROFLMAO:
Oh well. Skiing was awesome today. First slopes of the season so no camera nor drone with me… but tomorrow it’ll be different

Unless they somehow got this down to 600-grams or less, I would have MUCH rather had a 500-gram f1.4 like Sony is doing with the GM lenses. Don't need another 1kg prime for an extra half-stop.
Actually closer to 1/3 of a stop, but you might be surprised. 35mm is a FL where lenses can be made small and fast, just not for the back focus distance of an SLR.
