Canon T3i Price Jump

I know everyone is eagerly anticipating a 5D update, but as I'm just starting out in photography, I've been debating whether to jump on a T3i or hold out for the next version (T4i?) considering Canon tends to announce the Rebel updates around this time of year. I've been following the T3i prices for a while, and it was hovering under $710 at a few places. Then I just noticed today that it has jumped to $799 pretty much everywhere (Amazon, Best Buy, Adorama, B&H). I'm curious why this might be the case. The Canon rebates were all extended to early March, so I don't think that is it. Is it typical for all retailers to increase prices in lockstep like that? Does this occur on other models as well? It seems like a big price increase considering it was released a year ago and they tend to release a new version annually. Is anyone aware of the T3i being in short supply? It's dropped from 1 to 5 on the Amazon DLR sales rank in only a week or so, behind the Nikon d5100 and Canon T2i and T3. Or is it possible that they may be getting ready to release a new version at a higher price point and are moving the T3i to be in line with that? Just throwing some ideas out there, but I'm curious what others think.

I'd get the T2i if I were you. I just bought my second one for $399 at Adorama. It's going for about $499 everywhere now. There really isn't too much different between the T2i and the T3i. The screen is the biggest difference but unless shooting video is your main focus, the T2i is perfect. The screen on the T3i is better for video. I would stay away from the T3. I was looking at getting one as a second body, but it basically only shoots at 2 fps and has an old 12mp sensor.

I believe they added the T3i to the Canon Loyalty Program earlier this year and you can get a refurbished one direct form canon for around $540. Condition is practically new and comes with a warranty although its a 90 day one. Hell Id even consider the 60D which you can get for $647 through the program. Still cheaper then a new T39 from the prices youve come across now. All you need is a broken POS canon camera to exchange.

I think Canon will release the T4i in the next month or so.. some pinged it at the EOS 650 anniversary (for 650D)
