Canon T4i seems to be in stock everywhere -- WHY????

Thats the normal pattern, Rebels are made by the millions, in a very high speed factory, and stock is built up 2well before a announcement. Nikon does the same with their consumer bodies.
The pro models are more difficult to make, and have lower production rates because they only sell a relative few. Canon and Nikon have never been able to accurately estimate initial demand.

Puzzling question.
Why would they NOT be in stock everywhere? This is considered strictly a consumer product in the Canon line -- in contrast to professional, business-oriented products.

So Canon is playing "hard to get". Such that people that need them (or want them) are willing to pay a premium price. Let us put the 7D and 5DIII side by side. Can 5DIII really be able to justify the $2000 difference??? That is more than the price of two 7D's.

Simpley the way the market works, few people are going to buy a 5Dmk3 on a wim and go for a D800 instead purely because its not in stock, the same isnt true for entry level bodies.

Earlier this year at a canon seminar I was told there were several different bodies all ready here in the warehouses sitting but the reps didn't know what exactly. :-X
I'm thinking Canon might be trying to swamp Nikon using STM and touch screen as main marketing points or perhaps gimmicks. STM and touch screens are great & nice but not a necessity. At this time nobody even knows how effective stm will be & of course for still photographers it is much ado about nothing. :
In the end though I can see this is possibly really pushing the Rebels sales forward within the average consumer market.

Very good point, if average Joe gets excited about the new T4i goes to the store ready to buy a camera, if the T4i is not there, they just might pick-up some other companies latest camera and buy it.
The store doesn't care if they buy a Canon or not, they just want a sale.
