Canon UK website confirms: RF70-200mm not compatible with TCs

As an old saying goes, you can't have the butter and the money for the butter,(and the milkmaid...).
Due to the short distance from the rear lens-group to the sensor, the new extenders will collide with the RF 70-200's rear lens.
There's a price to pay for compactness, and, maybe, a reason for Canon to develop a non-extending version, as was already suggested.

A development announcement is not a release. When an actual product is available, Canon will change it's specs. In the meantime, don't get your panties in a twist.
So you feel that the extender compatibility reference on the Canon UK website was referring to EF extenders? Interesting perspective. You may want to loosen your shorts...

Of course it is. They would hardly refer to a product that doesn't exist.
That actually makes sense. The new ones haven’t been released and available so saying it’s compatible may cause issues.

why I, at least, thought they weren’t compatible is because the Rear lens element of the RF70-200 is closer to the mount than with the EF version and the fact that those RF extenders sticks out a lot!

It's certainly possible, but I doubt they would make an RF extender that doesn't work with one of the most popular RF telephotos. At any rate, there is no reason for people to think that will be the case until we actually have a product in hand. If that happens, then people are more than welcome to whine. But, it's a bit premature at this point.

Precisely. A quick look at the rear of the 70-200 shows the rear element is nearly flush with the mount. There is nowhere near enough room for the press released photos of the RF extenders to fit.

I had a great copy of the ef 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, plus a 1.4x III. I thought that the combo was pretty poor at 200mm. The same tele worked fine on my 100-400mm, so I assumed it was just the combo. Now all of those have been sold..."Dust in the wind..."
