Canon Won't Be Announcing Anything Until Q4

So far we have in the RF 1.4L VCM range 20mm, 24mm, 35mm and 50mm the elephant in the room is a RF 85mm f1.4L VCM.
Canon release cinema lenses as a complete set yet at this level dribble the lenses out. The EF 85mm f1.4L IS USM took Canon years to release and it came almost at the end of EF lens development is this to be a repeat of the past?

Americans are not the only customers in the world for Canon and if Trump likes to “tax” Americans with import duties Canon should refocus its efforts elsewhere like Europe, Middle East, Far East, Australasia etc.
We should not be penalised for US stupidity.

I don't assume that the stupid Trump Tarif Tax changed Canon's release schedule, although they did mention that it creates uncertainty about the global economy. I think Q4 is traditionally a busy release time, because camera companies want new products on store shelves for the holiday shopping season.

As to R5 II issues, mine enjoys freezing several times a day. It didn't do it before, could very hot weather (34° C) be the reason?
Removing the battery and reinserting it solves the freezing.
But not the loss of pictures...
There's indeed a lot to do to turn the R5 II into a camera as reliable as the R or 5D IV.

I thought about this as well and I´m hoping for a 85mm F1.4 L VCM. I figured, in terms of developing the lenses Canon could´ve announced and release them all at once, but in terms of producing enough lenses for sale it probably would´ve slowed everything down a lot. In the end, there might not have been enough lenses of any focal length to satisfy customers needs. So, I think Canons release strategy "three to start with and get everybody familiar with them" and then adding on to that initial set makes sense. Although releasing a 20/24/28/35/50/85mm set all at once would have been absolutely awesome :)

Not as awesome as a 35 1.2...
:devilish:

No more announcements from Canon until 4th quarter 2025? Makes sense to me. Canon has done a great job staying ahead of Sony, who has not even matched many of the R5 Mark II, R6 Mark II or R8 specs at respective price points. I suppose Sony could release an A7V or FX3 Mark II that leapfrog Canon but... your move Sony. Might as wait and see then decide on releasing the R6 Mark II.

No R6III or R7II this summer :'/!??!? crazy time....
The negatives about the R5II are crazy to know.... so I don't touch it for more longer now! I hate those freezes on my R7 -.-"... (only in Custom mode)

So... after the nice feature update for the Nikon Z8... I will wait for a desent Z8 II with Raw pre-burst etc... for a way cheaper price then Canon is charging for a bugged pro camera.. (R5II)

I am kind of shocked reading about all those bugs with the R5mkii. At first, I thought it only concern a very small amount of all sold cameras. But I've read reports in several forums from different customers in various contries and seems like a bigger issue. As a mkii version, I thought there would less flaws as with the original R5... but I was wrong.

In Germany, there is a saying: "Das Produkt reift beim Kunden". The literal translation would be: "The product matures with the customer" although I´d rather say: "The product evolves with the customer". This absolutely seems to be the case with the R5mkii.

Personally, I hate it when products are released that don´t work properly... I'd rather have the company release features later and make sure they work.

Funnily, I had those warm weather freezes exclusively with the RF 85mm f/2, and usually after having shifted from AF to MF. Never with the 100-500 or 70-200, 15-35, 28, 50.
Modern cameras have so many features that testing them under every possible setting or configuration is just impossible. The question is how well and quickly the manufacturer reacts with a reliable firmware , like 1.04...
