Confused with what lens to get next

Christmas is coming up and I'm looking into buying myself a new lens for my camera. I'm not sure whether or not to buy a better lens than my kit lens or to buy a new lens that will give me a wider range of focal lengths to shoot at. The lenses I'm considering for my 60d are:

Canon 10-22 (I used to have a Tamron 10-24 when I shot nikon but sold it to fund my switch to canon. I miss having such a wide-angle lens now)
Canon 17-40 L (I have an 18-55 IS II and really don't like the IQ of it. I feel like this is a decent decision as it will work well as a standard zoom on my 60d and will be a decent wide-angle if I ever switch to full frame)
Canon 24-105 L (This is a bit of a stretch but if the IQ is much better than the 17-40 then I would prefer it despite the limited focal length on the wide end)

I don't know whether or not I should replace my 18-55 with an L series lens of some kind or just keep it and buy a 10-22 which will expand the focal range I can shoot with. The other lenses I have are the 28mm f/2.8, the 50mm f/1.8 and the 70-200 f/4 L non-IS.

I'd say 17-55/2.8 IS, or 15-85/3.5-5.6 IS if you don't need f/2.8 (and with two primes in the range, you may not). Both will give you L-series optical quality with a much more useful focal range on APS-C, and both will actually give you as good or better IQ than the 24-105L, and better than the 17-40L, when used on your camera.

The 2 best lenses for a crop are the 10-22 and the 17-55. The 10-22 is available refurb from Canon at a great price.

Since you obviously consider adding/switching to ff sooner or later only ef lenses make sense -that's why I'm also looking for a good used 17-40L which is still an "ok" standard-zoom on my 60d.

If you can live w/o the wide end the 24-105 might make even more sense, but imho only used because there's a large price gap to new atm. Personally, I've been shooting with an old *28*-105 lens for the last two years and discovered that except for typical indoor uwa-shots it's usually is sufficient just to just take a step back ... and for "take it all in" landscape I stitch panoramas from multiple shots.

Btw. if I would be asked to buy (just) one ef-s lens it'd be the 15-85 which has great value, zoom range and iq, the non-fixed aperture doesn't matter to me and no f2.8 imho only matters in situations you wouldn't use the 60d for anyway.

Are you thinking FF in the future? If yes - get some L. If not, stay with EF-S.

10-22 is really good & fun on crop.

I have the EF-S 10-22 and love it on my 50D. It is very sharp but I do get some vignetting at 10mm with the lens hood attached. No big deal though to fix it later. The colors are much richer with this lens than with my kit 28-135mm. If you want wide this is definitely the best lens for crop cameras.

BUY lenses for what you have, Canon glass has great resale value, you can even make money depending on how the market swings. I know, I have. Buying for a future and unknown body is ricockulous.
I have either broke even or made money on the 8+ Canon lenses I have sold on Ebay.

+1 for the 10-22 or 17-55 f/2.8. With the 10-22/17-55 and your current 70-200, you'll have excellent coverage of focal lengths.

FF gives more flexibility, but is also a lot more expensive. The body is more expensive. The 16-35 is much more expensive than the 10-22, and a f/2.8 midrange zoom is also more expensive than the 17-55. If you can, getting refurbs from the canon store makes sense when they go on sale -- You won't lose much if you decide to sell them in the future.

I'm also not a big fan of using the 17-40 on a crop camera. The wide angle zooms are the weakest lenses in the Canon lineup, and the 17-40 has more flaws than the 16-35 for general purpose use.
