Could a new Canon DSLR be announced during the Canon Expo in Shanghai?

Just wanted to know if you guys see that happening. The expo is just hours away. I haven't noticed much buzz about that expo.

Manufacturers typically announce before a event, not during. This is because they want to show off a model or prototype and hand out brochures during the event.

so this means no new body at this canon expo? I believe this is still the 1st day.

Actually, the event starts at 2pm in Shanghai so if there's a 12 hour difference from Eastern time, then it hasn't even started yet. It should start in about 1 hour.

Zero Chance!!

That is not how Canon or other camera companies announce major new cameras or lenses. They send out invitations about two weeks to news reporters inviting them to a press conference which is held 2-7 days before a major event. They do not just show up with a major new product. Canon wants the free publicity, and their booth in the event will have a big display covering new products.

Its those invitations that are leaked. The invitations do not say what product will be, but it is known at that time that a major announcement might be made. Sometimes its just a new printer or scanner.

There were no invitations to such a event!
