Could you help me diagnose this picture please?

Is it flare from using a single coating filter? Or is it characteristics of the lens itself? I think it's probably the filter. Just wanted a confirmation.

Its backlit dirt or dust. Nothing to do with coatings. So long as its not internal to the lens then a blower brush will fix.

This is taken seconds before. I don't think it's a dust problem.

Could be pollen from the trees has settled in the interim.
The sun is right on the cusp of the pitched roof in the flare dhot, backlighting everything.
In the flare free shot the sun has moved. Perhaps behind the building and so contrast improves, crap isn't backlit.

I do not believe it is a filter design or coating issue.
