Planet5D’s Mitch and always working cinematographer Barry Andersson discuss the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II from a filmmakers point of view. I gather Barry is very excited to get his hand on the new flagship DSLR from Canon.

Barry makes some great points about the strengths and perceived weaknesses of the video features on the EOS-1D X Mark II, especially when it comes to the omission of C-Log.

For the record, in the above interview Mitch from Planet5D says I swear up and down that the EOS 5D Mark III replacement will not have 4K video. While that’s what we’re being told, we’re not convinced that is going to be the case. There is always a possibility of 2 more 5D cameras, though we think the “EOS 5Dc” is likely a a unicorn. We’ve had some mentions that Canon is working on a small form factor 4K camera with an EF mount, but we don’t know if that’s a DSLR or a Cinema EOS product. It’s going to be very interesting to say the least.

You can preorder from these great retailers:

What's wrong with the sound? His lips and image are totally out of sync with the sound!!

Am I the only one seeing that?

It is the same if you watch here or on youtube.

Crikey, how can you watch a video covering the 1DX Mark II for Filmmakers, if they can't even make a simple video properly! Could not watch past a few seconds.

The video was shot with Google Hangouts and went live to youtube. Youtube did the recording. I'm well aware of the sync issue but I don't have the original source to fix it unfortunately. It is a Hangout/youtube issue

agree :-\

...but you don't need to watch, just listen ;)

That's not the point!

If I made a video like that, I would delete it, make it again.

This is from a camera-related website, and worse it is a video about the video capabilities of a brand new camera.

It's disgraceful.

I'm sorry you're disappointed. As I said I wish I could fix it.

The value is in the content... as nda suggested, "just listen"

Delete it and do another.

It is a video about the video capabilities of a new camera. And you can't even do the video right ....... You even suggest I "just listen".

What a joke.

Seriously. Delete and upload another. Crikey.

Added: and it's not a hangout/youtube issue. It is 5d's issue, as it is their branding on the video and they know there is a problem with it. Personally? I think it is hilarious that a camera website does a video about the video capabilities of Canon's new flagship and can't even do the video right!!
