I know the extenders will work with the 135L, but I am specifically asking whether anyone has used the 1.4ex with the 135L. I had the 2x a few years back and used it on my 400mm and 70-200 but was disappointed. From what I have read I understand that the 1.4ex is sharper? Anyone try this combo on the R yet? So glad to not have to worry with AFMA.

Personally I am surprised at the IQ hit the 135 takes with a 1.4TC, makes the 200 f2.8L seem even better value!

I use a 1.4TC III extensively with the TS-E 17 and TS-E 50 and there is virtually no IQ penalty with it.
It's too bad. In another year I'll get a Tamron or Canon EF 70-200... again. With the 400mm f/5.6L being on closeout I was worried the 135L might be on the chopping block soon. I have always regretted selling my last copy (true for my past EF 35mm f/1.4L II also). I would imagine it to be still a hot seller as it is so wonderful, but one never knows. Hated to sell my RF glass, but things got real tight with everything going on. Hopefully, we'll buy a house next year and then I'll get those back. It's been months since I've done any real shooting other than the grandson.

Anyway, I'll be happy to have a 135L back in my hands in a couple of days. Thanks for the help! :)
