Ef 35 L II, where are the shots, tests and opinions?

Mine is still waiting for me in Connecticut, so I have nothing to show yet.

A Swedish friend of mine said that it can be bought for 20950,- SEK in Sweden now. I'm buying at "as close to 20k" as possible. But would have like to see more shots and more experience. It took 20 minutes when the 24-70 II started to ship before we had a few threads here, now though...

Now we have a direct comparison sigma vs. canon on TDP

Many thanks can0nfan2379! I think it looks wonderful, and the bokeh in the shot of the horse is really nice! And the lack of ca in the truck shot is QUITE different from the mk1 would look like.

How do you like the AF, have you challenged it yet?

Just saw that on my Facebook, and it shows what some of us claimed last time also, 5ds or not, it destroys both the mk1 and Sigma.

Obvious the center is going to be razor sharp on both, but I was a bit surprised how different they were in both mid-frame and the corners. The new Canon appears to be significantly sharper. Probably never noticeable in real world shooting, but still. I thought the Sigma was better then that in the corners. Below average copy? Or is this pretty representative of that lens. Other initial reviews were saying it was nearly impossible to pixel peep and see a difference in sharpness between the lenses. But these test chart shots say otherwise.

The TDP chart shows an eyeball visible difference in sharpness at all three areas. I was surprised to be able to see it at center.

Bodes real well for the 50L II. If color contrast etc.. hold up this could be a must buy for anybody making a living with a 35mm lens

Pretty representative and any off center composition will absolutely benefit from the sharper corners.

TDP charts show the Sigma never really catching up to the Canon even at F/8 (center mid or corners). At f/4 I think the Canon 35 f2 IS starts to give it a run at mid frame and corners (the 35 f IS beats the sigma and the mark I at that spot)

Haven't had enough experience with the lens yet to be able to comment meaningfully on the AF performance / limits yet.

On FF I use the 35mm mostly for environmental shots where I have a lot of subjects in mid frame to corner, it will be very noticeable when you regularly use the rule of thirds. The mid frame to corner sharpness of the new 35L II is almost as sharp as the TSE 24L II.....LOL
