CANON U.S.A. ANNOUNCES THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED EOS 5D MARK III.1 DIGITAL SLR CAMERA

Featuring the Exact Same Image Quality, 61-Point High Density Reticular AF, Six fps High-Speed Continuous Shooting and Enhanced HDVideo Recording Features as the EOS 5D MARK III

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., October 8, 2013 – On the 26th anniversary of its world-renowned EOS System, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to announce its latest model, the new EOS 5D Mark III.1 Digital SLR Camera. Similar to the release of the EOS T5i, the camera is nearly identical to the EOS 5D MARK III. The exciting upgrade includes improved metering in extremely dark environments when the LCD panel illuminates.

"We're extremely excited to announce the new capabilities of the EOS 5D MARK III.1, and think it will be extremely useful for nighttime shooters using the LCD panel." He continued by saying, "There were rumors on websites such as Metapixel that we had a phenomenon called 'light leak' but that's just false. We offered to fix these so-called problems, but people just need to be more careful when they meter at night." stated Buck Eastfall, Chief Media Defender, Canon U.S.A.

Canon developed the new EOS 5D MARK III.1 after extensive complaints by their users. At one time, Canon considered a product recall to fix the non-issue of the imaginary light leak, but deemed it too expensive and bad publicity.

A Canon insider said that the company decided that, "A simple piece of tape could be used to fix the problem, but that could hurt sales, especially if we had acknowledged the problem. With our high level of brand loyalty, we decided it would be better to offer the new EOS 5D Mark III.1 model for sale. We don't care about our customers and we hope they aren't able to tell the difference between the old and the new model."

Didn't everyone already know that the 5DIII is a beta test product? On Kickstarter paying to acquire half baked prototypes is all the rage these days, I'm surprised it took multi-billion dollar corporations so long to catch on!

I had to join just to say well done. After owning a D600 (just sold a few days ago) and switching to a 7D, Nikon will not be getting my business again. The sensors might be better, but honestly the D600 situation is disgusting. I know Canon isn't the best when it comes to this stuff, but they seem to be far better than Nikon. I'm loving the 7D so far and look forward to using a reliable platform.

cap7ainclu7ch, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Nikon. I really thought both companies were pretty even when you balanced out sensors vs. lens selections, etc., but I was pretty appalled to see them do this to their D600 owners. I'm glad you enjoyed my post and decided to join the forum. The 7D is a great camera, particularly for sports, wildlife, and other action work. I think you'll find the lenses to be pretty amazing, too.

Thanks, I picked up a refurbished 70-200 2.8 from the Canon store for under 1k the other day and it should be here tomorrow. Pumped to start shooting with it. So far the ergonomics and menus are the biggest things that stand out for me. Much better organization throughout. Just gotta learn how to properly expose images because damn you could pretty much just take a black frame on the D600 and push the shadows in LR to get a perfectly usable image. If only the sensor could see through that grease... :P
