I want to order the 60D body from B&H but it has been 'Temporary Unavailable' for at least a week now. Does any one have any insight into when it will be available again?

It's in stock at Adorama (for the same price as B&H).

Thanks, but where does it say on that page if it is in stock? I don't want to order it just to get an email telling me it is on back order.

They don't have 60D body, but they do have the 7D. It is really tempting. Does anyone have experience with getting a refurbished camera from Canon? Any problems?

I have started buying from the Canon refurb store, so far everything has been perfect, basically new. So far, a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS MK II, a 7D, and a 15-85mm lens.

You can buy the lit and sell the lens if you don't need it to further reduce the cost of a 60D. Various models go in and out of stock, so check daily.

If you don't like it, you have a 14 day return window.

Unfortunately the referb store does not ship to Canada.

Email from Adorama:
While we do have it in stock today, the current situation is that we have more orders than we do units - so we would not be able to fulfill your order until we receive the next delivery -and unfortunately we don't yet have an ETA from the manufacturer as to when that will be.

I was recently looking at "new or hardly used" 60D units on a certain auction site, and in terms of camera for the dollar those look like the best bet yet. The refurbs don't convince me; Canon does seem to have a pretty good refurbish policy better than e.g. an "open box" policy (which typically would mean that you might not get half of what originally came with the unit) but I wouldn't personally want to risk it. Although it's worth mentioning that I would rather take the word of some random auction seller who says they only rarely used their camera - well, if they have good pictures of their item in the auction you can eyeball that for yourself.

I had actually ordered a few hours before receiving that email and later that night I got an email telling me my order was shipped. So I guess I had ordered mine just in time.

Those 60D bodies didn't last too long at all! Must be a big demand for them, or else they only had a few in stock. It seems like most items in the refurb listings are out of stock....hopefully they will get more of them.

Ted

Geez - they must have either had just a couple, or whatever they had flew out the door.

I have been checking non-stop for the last week .... I guess I just missed them.

They disappeared in minutes. It could have been a error that they corrected, I've seen cameras go quickly, but not 60d's. When I bought my 7d using the CLP a week ago, they told me that the 60d was not part of the CLP because they did not get 60d's in sufficient quantities.

You could get the body for about $700 if you buy the kit and two other lenses from Amazon then sell the lenses on ebay.

Amazon has Canon EOS 60d 18-135mm kit for $1199 and if you add the lenses 55-250mm and 70-300mm you will get $350 discount, Plus free Tiffen 58mm UV Protection Filter ($12.39).

Canon EOS 60D and 18-135mm

+
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens

+
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens

+
Tiffen 58mm UV Protection Filter

Make sure you add only from Amazon.com not other merchandise.
