A reader purchased a grey market Canon EOS 7D Mark II via GetItDigital and the camera came with firmware 1.04. The current version available from Canon is 1.02.</p>
<p>At the time of writing this, it is unknown when or if this firmware version will become available for download or what has changed.</p>

So did they put the 'missing' 1.03 in this guy's camera?

They frequently skip versions that turned out to be buggy in testing. New firmware always encompasses all of the previous fixes in the new version. That is you would only need to update to the latest version...not every version in between.

Some dev shops will also use odd numbers for internal development version and then increment to the next even number when they promote it to the release version.
