So finally we have solid specs on 5D4, so I need to decide what to get. I already have 1DX(1) for sports, but I've been looking to add:

-something better for studio (=more Mpix, more DR)
-something with AF during video (either "real" video cam or DSLR with DPAF)
-something with 1080p120fps video (for sports)

Not mandatory but for bonus points:
-something which takes EF lenses
-something with silent shutter
-something smaller than 1D body for easy daily "P&S" carry (but still good quality)

I was hoping 5D4 scores on all of those, but sounds like it falls short on the 1080p120 fps. So different options I've been trying to think. Give me opinions please to help me decide. Just speaking aloud (typing here) already does plenty, but sometimes there's reasons to go certain option that I didn't think of, so it's good to get the collective hive to give pointers too.

Option1: Stop being pussy and just get 5D4 and be happy with it. Only thing missing from my wish list is 1080p120. ~$3500

Option2: Get 1DX2. Not really more Mpix or DR, plus no silent and not small. And expensive. Otherwise awesome camera. $6000

Option3: Get 5DsR for studio and G40 for video. G40 is only 1080p60, also doesn't take EF lenses meaning dim indoors it doesn't have as much light as other cameras could have. ~$4000

Option4: Get Sony A6300 with Metabones. Using adapter not sure if it'd be better for studio compared to 1DX. But supports 1080p120 and is much smaller than other options. ~$1500

Option5: Get Sony A6300, Metabones and G40. Not sure if this is any better than option4. ~$2500

(editing more after having couple beers to clear my head)

Option6: 1DC. Good video but not DPAF. Not good studio. Not silent, not small. Semi-expensive. $5000

Option7: Something else?

Hjelp?

I really wouldn't like to invest in two systems. Also even more I wouldn't like to invest in 2 glasses, so buying the Sony-E Zeiss lenses would be even less favorable option, although I've heard lot of good reviews on those. But if Canon is not the best option I need to consider.

Sounds like you want us to tell you to get the 5D IV. If that's the case, just do it! (And post a review of it here of course- that's the price of asking for advice here. ;)

I assume you do a lot of video... A little perspective here- the very first DPAF FF camera ever was released only a few months ago. So for that to become a must for a camera, video must be your main thing. In which case I'd get the 1DX II to get the frame rate you want.

For studio, I was not aware DR was an issue...? I'd get the 5ds for the resolution. Besides, if you consider the 1DX II as not having more dr, it's doubtful the 5D IV will either.

The 5D's are a lot closer in size to a 1D than a P&S, so the A6300 would be your option there. Or actually get a P&S.

So my "other" solution would be, sell your 1DX, and get a 5ds, a P&S, and a 1DX II XD (hey, you didn't post any limit on the cost ;P )

Disclaimer: I'm speaking through my hat as I have not owned any of those cameras.

Ah, yes, let me clarify my shootings.

I do ~50% sports (stills), for which the 1DX is just perfect. I don't think 1DX2 improves much on stills for that. Other 50% is studio or events/fashion shows (stills again).

I take some amount of video during the sports too, but I use my ~6 years old tiny camcorder with tiny lens and no manual controls. Dim indoors, it doesn't do that great job on it. At least it shoots 1080p60, but that's about it. I don't shoot video that much really.

So my wish is to get something better for the studio/event -categories, and 5D4 sounds perfect for that regard.

I also want to replace the camcorder, so that's why I want something that shoots video, takes proper lenses, has AF on video and preferably shoots 1080p120 so that I can do better slow-motion for sports. Manual focus is not really option for those, I need something that tracks fairly ok.

if I had good video camera I'd probably plan some video projects outside sports too. But stills is my main, video would be just something on the side for fun.

And I don't think for the life of me I'd take actual P&S 8) Earlier I had 5D3 (which I sold to make room for something better), and when I felt I needed "P&S" I took the grip off and slapped 50/1.4 on it. Like 2 years ago I was in Sapporo and was going to go barhopping alone and get sh**faced, I took my 5D3+50/1.4. Japan is awesome on that, I even tried to find all the shady bars at strange alleys, but never felt unsafe carrying those.

You're actually right, 1DX2 + 5Ds(R) would have all I'm looking for. But the price tag is bit high. Kinda leaning towards the 5D4, and maybe just have to be happy with 60fps :P
