ive been saving some money to enter the full frame cameras. i have been waiting for the mk2 to lower the price. do u guys think i should return it and wait for it to go lower? or is there any rumor of a new ff coming to the market??

Any thoughts would be very appreciated!

How could we know, we don't have any idea as to what you paid. The going rate in the USA is about $2200. Occasionally there might be a discount when combined with a lens purchase, but don't expect the price to drop a lot in the near future. The high price of the 5D MK III keeps pressure off the MK II prices.

Dude, you got a pretty fair deal. I paid $2,500 for mine about two years ago. But the 12 megapixel, non-video enabled overrrated D700 is STILL going for a good price ($2,300 I believe) so thank yourself for getting the better DSLR in my opinion.

I had the D700 first, caught it with 250 shutter actuations on Craigslist for $1,400!!! The seller had too much money to know what to do with it. Because I was first to respond, he sold to me for less than anyone was offering to pay. Keep in mind this was in early 2010. I sold the D700 on ebay and made about $800 off of it. What did I do with the profit? Bought the 5d2 and 35L. Lovely, huh? Anyway, unless you wanted to pay $3k for d800 or $3,500 for 5d3, the extra dough can go a LONG way towards better glass. Have fun and master that fine machine you have. I am nowhere near squeezing out its potential.

I was thinking just buying a 7d and save the extra cash for some extra glass too. but i thought i will always regret myself not buying a ff. currently i have 24-70 2.8 . 70-200 f4 and a 50 f1.8. business is not stable for me, so money is a big issue. I have a well kept t2i so i believe is going to make a big change in my photography. dont know about the business ! but i have high hopes!

I almost bought the 7d as well. SO SO SO glad I got smart and didn't make a terrible decision. I called a local camera shop and one of the elder statesmen told me this verbatim: "There is a reason the 5d2 is $1,000 more (at that time) than the 7d. And the sensor itself is where the money difference lies."

Obviously we never know what exactly Canon (or other imaging companies) will do next, but from what I've read it is VERY unlikely that Canon will offer a full frame lower than the 5DMII price. If anything they will update that $2,500 price point with a camera very similar to the MII (maybe just an updated sensor) and keep the bells and whistles on the MIII. That's my guess, and who knows if/when that'll even happen.

You saved $1,300 off the current price of a new mk3 which is somewhat hard to even get atm. If you are talking new prices it's not a bad deal, and Canon won't drop the mk2 price immediately because it would probably trigger a mk3 drop. They'll probably want the 3 (+competition/market) to dictate the 2, not the other way around. If you are short on cash and want a better deal your only option is to go used. You'd save about another $700 if you buy it used and will take much less of a hit if you turn around 6 months from now and sell it again to another photographer and swap it for a new MKIII after price drop. Alternatively you could pick up a 5D Mark I knowing you will do what was just described and save another $700 but be without some great 5DII features, not least of which is video. If you plan on keeping it for several years and it does what you need, and you want the security of a warranty, I don't think you did to bad at all, and could still probably change your mind and sell it 6+ months from now for not too bad of a loss, certainly cheaper than a non-stop rental fee would cost.
