hi all
i decide to share with all of you my past experience with Sony a7r II , one year ago i sold my 5d MK III and went to Sony a7 II then a7r II and i still keep my canon glasses .
today i sold my Sony camera after may be 6 month for many reasons :
if really you plan to move to Sony system you have to move to whole system with lenses other wise it's kinda useless and you will not enjoy most of features .
another point also it's not really that solid camera and i experience 2 times problem while shooting in snow plus some issues of compatibly even i buy the original grip and 3 original battery still i have to restart the camera and not only me its normal issues happen with a lot of Sony users .
focus system not that easy to deal with and what ever you have expensive adapter still you will have some problems i have to shoot 5 times to make sure my pics in right focus
i may do wrong and some of my friends told me that you are crazy ;D but am quite sure that i will not go wrong with canon 5d mk IV .
sony is good camera but may be i don't like it personally ...... your opinion guys about this moving is highly appreciated .

I have never held a Sony A7RII but all I can say is that a camera can be the best in the world but if you do not enjoy using it it will sit in your cupboard collecting dust.
I have seen a few reviews saying the 5DIV has closed the gap with Sony significantly and IMO you will probably find relatively few situations where the advantages of the Sony will leave you regretting your change.

Ignore the naysayers and take pleasure when they look at you images and say 'Oh.....'

I don't think you are crazy. A7RII have some features that I wish in a Canon body such as EVF, ISO/DR, and eye focus but when I do wedding, I need reliability, battery life, and good ergonomic especially for 12-16 hrs wedding. You also needs a complete ecosystem with lens to lighting gears to support my shooting style. I like Sony keep innovating and putting pressure Canon/Nikon on their toes but the difference in DR & ISO is not enough for experience shooter to get their best out of their camera.

What alot of manufacture putting out the last 5 years are enough to create amazing pictures with what lighting options available right now. I'm more interested in lens and lighting gears now than the incremental increase in specs but charging alot of money for it.

Every manufacturer has a niche to stay competitive. Canon's niche is reliability and support. The camera body of your choice is a tool that gets the job done. I have seen stunning photos from a wide variety of bodies- Sony, Nikon, Canon, etc., but they all had one thing in common, the photographers eye.
I started with Cano(40D) and upgraded as my goals and experience expanded. The 5D Mark IV and 5DS are my tools. You will like the 5D Mark IV.
The best example of it's performance I have experienced is the spot on colors and ability to recover deep shadow detail & color.

Here is an example. ISO was 400.

The final image is really clean.

Seriously? Could it be possible English isn't their first language?
I had no problem understanding them. Perhaps my education level allowed me to comprehend it.

You complain about readability, then include text-speak which is poor as it makes additional demands on the reader, the OP was not lazy enough to do that.

The OP wrote as if English is their second language, making the sort of errors non-native speakers make. It's quite intelligable if you've had any exposure to non-native speakers.

Back to topic: I like kit that works.. and works and works and works. Canon give me that. I'm not saying their stuff is unbreakable, merely that when I treat it with respect it "just works"

For reference I've had dew running off my old 30D numerous times doing astrophotography, dropped it a couple of times and never had any problems with it, even years later, so now I have a 6D.

I've never used the Sony but each time out with the 5D4 I'm more impressed with the IQ improvement over the 5D3.
my question now do i have to go for 5dsr instead of IV or what ?
since am just doing landscape and some family events .
Thanks

There are landscapes and there are landscapes...
If you do not crop a lot then the resolution advantage of the 5DSR will probably not be noticed until you print above 20". .
Both are very capable cameras but for family events I would say the ISO options of the 5DIV will be more useful with family events.

Totally agree. My 5DS only comes out for shoots I know I'm going to have to heavily crop or the subject requires the extra detail. If you go the 5DS/R route, be prepared to invest in hard drives.

Kind of ironic that you're complaining about the OP's grammar when your reply has no capitalization, poor punctuation on your first sentence, no punctuation on your second and you substituted "u" for "you".

I´m writing in poor English too. I just can use about 2/3 of my brain and the impaired region is the Broca and Wernicke area.
But back to the topic:
In my family there are relatives working for sony, so they own a lot of their stuff. But my experience with the 7RII is quite the same. The service is awful and expensive, Af lacks and the capacity of the battery is a hoax.
But it produces really great shots if you know how to use it.
The 5DIV is more stable and has an excellent service from CPS. And so on and so on.... Overall I like the 5DIV it is an excellent workhorse for a lot of different situations. My personal experience (with the gear I owne/owned): My maximum used Isos are 3200 with the 5DIV/6D and 800 with the 7DII, 1 stop better than their predecessors. And if the light is quite ok and you just need an fast shutter speed, Iso 6400 will produce good images.

If possible, meet an someone who owns an 5DIV or join an Canon workshop where you are able to work with the 5DIV and compare it. If you post your country or reagion where you live, maybe an CR member can help you.
