Looks like there are multiple threads on the Firmware updates for the difference cameras.
Canon USA just posted a video on the new password protection that will accompany the new firmware.
This looks to be rolled out to multiple cameras.
The quick summary is that:
Canon USA just posted a video on the new password protection that will accompany the new firmware.
This looks to be rolled out to multiple cameras.
The quick summary is that:
- you can disable this feature if you would like at set up by the "do not ask again" box
- This is not a theft deterrence feature. It seems like it is more in order to comply with EU identity protection regulations
- You can reset the password, but it will wipe all settings (including personal information) from the camera. Which, if implemented how I understand, is why it is not a theft deterrence (feature).
