Curious, how old are the current TC 1.4 and 2.0 converters? I see folks trying them and not really impressed with results on the new RF 100-300. I just feel the WOW factor has yet to be seen until the new TC is released. I would hope the glass and technology in the new TC will really be different for the new big whites. Am I wrong to think this way?

All of 3 years old - newly designed for RF lenses. Apart from restricting the focal range, they are good with the RF 100-500mm. The two biggest whites, the RF 800 and 1200, are the 400 and 600 with built-in 2xTCs that are custom designed for those lenses and better than the removable ones for those.

Ah, cool, so hoping the new TC is custom designed for the new big white zooms, thanks!!!
What @AlanF is saying is that those custom-designed TCs are included in the optical design and in the barrel of the 800/5.6 and 1200/8 lenses. That was not done with the 100-300/2.8, and according to the most recent rumor will not be done with the 200-500/4.

Given that the RF TCs are pretty new, there's no reason to think there will be MkII versions of them. Thus the speculation of some sort of 'new' TC, e.g. a switchable 1.4x/2x. However, such a TC would be an add-on, and as such Canon would design it to work with any TC-compatible lens. Very unlikely it will be specifically optimized for the 100-300 or 200-500, IMO.
