no autofocus 1dx2

no autofocus 1dx2... no lenses will autofocus..


set normally for main button focus and exposure.. ... but tried the focus-back focus button..
nothing...
is there a setting that turns off autofocus.. that I missed?

feel silly here..
I have used it for a month...not one issue except the Sandisk CFast card bit...

any hints are welcomed

it autofocuses in video mode and ..touch screen too.. this works.. so autofocus drive is there in video

but NOT live view single shot...

feels like a setting I 'bumped'?

also 2nd battery same thing... both batteries 90%+ no help

Seriously though, have you tried resetting by battery removal?

Do a camera reset which returns the settings to factory status. Remove the battery for >5 minutes and restart the camera. If that does not resolve the issue, then there is a problem. You can save your current settings before doing this.

Couple suggestions:
1 - Did you assign the AF function to a different button. Check your custom controls menu to make sure the button you think is AF is actually AF. Even if it is, try setting it to a different button and then trying it (to diagnose whether it's a button issue).
2 - You might consider gently cleaning the contacts on your mount.
3 - After seeing people rate the Zeiss Otus f/1.4 50mm lens (which doesn't have AF) very far above the Sigma Art 1.4 based on some copies of the Sigma not autofocusing well, you can sell the body for $12,000 now, representing it as the perfect body to pair with the much more expensive Zeiss lenses.

Couple questions:
- Can you switch auto focus points modes from, for instance, zone to single-point, etc; but it just doesn't actually auto focus?
- What control are you employing in video mode? Same shutter button, or are you just using the touch interface?
- If any of the lenses you are using have IS, can you hear/feel it kick in when you touch the shutter/AF button in stills mode?
- Similarly, when in a semi-auto mode, can you see a frame speed and f/ value calculated and displayed by the metering system when touching that same button?

I think you're right, that there is probably a funky setting. I've done enough dumb things like that to know how easy it is, especially with a new, unfamiliar camera. Barring that, it could be a dead control. Barring that, it could be a faulty AF module or other system in the chain between the button, boards, software and lens communication system.

long story...short..
returned to Canon...
money back...top of list again...
but I am inclined now..to see whgat transpires with cFast and if thissue pops up... and more

........if you add that wonderful 35L ii...i got.....now it is $8000...

me I am ...backed out of the camera...for now... I will peek over the horizon...on and off..to see the bug reports...etc..
and maybe go 5D4.....


I wanted spot meter .. linked to focus point...
and lots of custom features....

and the camera really was great.. but I dont want to be keept awake at night ...with unresolved bugs...
