Seemed like a month ago the new ef 100-400mm II wasn't going to be especially hard to order, that there were enough even for some promo pairings with the new 7DII.

Now, I can't find one from a big name retailer here in the US.

I'm wondering if this is related to the big cargo-workers strike on the Pacific coast. I know that Honda and Toyota are starting to have parts on back-order.

Any North American customers finding other lenses or gear on back-order?

Jmo, but it may be best to "pre order" the lens from your favorite retailer. I did so with B&H and when I recieived the lens it was still listed as unavailable. My guess is they and others may be filling back orders before listing it for general sale so the sooner you get in the que the sooner you will receive your lens.

The big retailers get them in stock and sell out promptly. B&H had them in stock just a couple of days ago. Since you are paying full price, go to a local dealer and ask them to order in one for you. Canon seems to support local dealers by shipping small orders right away, at least, that has always worked for me. I've had my local dealer get hard to find items in 2 days.

We don't have drive-in movies or local dealers anymore. :-\
