Not shipping the 5D Markiii til next month?

I did read somewhere that Canon has 2 factories dedicated to the 5DIII to avoid what happened when the 5DII came out and it was slow getting cameras. I have a feeling their inventory for the initial release is robust . At least, I'm hoping! I was going to wait for the camera to come out and see the reviews on an actual production unit and not a prototype, but reviews like Jeff Ascough's just made me pull the trigger several days after the announcemnt so I am pretty certain there a quite a few ahead of me.

The info that the cameras would be in early but not authorized to ship til the 22nd was far to specific to sound like a random thought...I'm with CR on this...

Will B&H send the first overnight cameras on 03/21 so they would be delivered the same 03/22 to me?

People that had pre-ordered items in the past indicated they would get the item the day of release and sometimes before. If B&H does like Amazon has done there's a chance it might ship the 21st and arrive the 22nd.

I don't think so. Craig, states that March 22 is the sale date. So they make the official sale on the 22nd and then ship the camera. My guess is that when the store opens they start processing the orders in the order they were time stamped , package them up and put them on their truck which leaves at the end of the day and heads to NJ where they get shipped out either that night or as I have experienced when ordering in the past the following morning, the 23rd. So the earliest you could get them is on the 24th, IMO. Unless they spend the 21st packaging everything. They still have to make the sale on the 22nd if Craig's info is correct. Best case scenario, they process everything on the 21st, make the sale and ship on the 22nd so maybe you get it on the 23rd. I'm still betting on the 24th as the earliest.

Release dates are pretty strict, if B&H or so get cause mailing early they risk getting blacklisted in the future re product availability...I'm thinking they'll be packaged, addressed and ready to go out the morning of the 22nd...imagine the pallets of cameras all bundled and ready to come to us!!! Like Santa's sleigh!!!

As someone who was ready to move from his 40D 2 years ago and didn't wanna get caught again (the 50 D came out 2 months after I bought my 40D) I've been waiting for a long time for this camera...I hope it's the toy / tool we have all been waiting for...expect deliveries the 23rd 24th...
