</strong>It looks like Tamron is going to be refreshing their 70-200 f/2.8 with a new version. The new version will add Tamron’s vibration correction as well as a new optical design.</p>

No mnention of their new USD (ultrasonic) motor then? This is the biggest flaw of the existing design and one of the reasons why I traded mine in for the Canon version. Shame really, because the Tamron was optically superb, especially at the shorter end. I hope they don't ruin the optics with their VC implementation like they did with the 17-50mm.

It's a patent on optical design, not a product announcement.

If this lens is produced it will almost certainly feature a USD motor. It must, to compete with Canon Nikon and Sigma.

Great, can't wait to see how this turns out. I had the Tamron 17-50 VC, but sold it because the focus motor was just too slow. If they do make a product out of this patent, I sure hope it has the new USD motor. I see no reason why they would not put it in.
