Pricing of 5DIV in Germany

So, the difference is 8.9% (based on the Nett price; we can't blame Canon for our tax regimes).

What other benefits do we get in the EU that would influence the price?

I can think of:

2 years Europe-wide warranty versus 1 year in the US.
In the UK, our consumer protection extends up to a potential 6 years.

They must cost Canon a bit, which is presumably factored into the price.

Anything else?

Don´t know how it goes in USA. There are some recyclation fees, harmful materials overusage fees/fines like lead and some special processes with soldering and moulding. Also there are other higher taxes for entrepreneurs. We just tax/fine ourselves to death. Really!
You propably have no idea what other fees and fines do we have to pay for new cars, do you? It is big $$$$

I used to live in Finland, I'm always amazed what all they can tax. Recently they announced if you collect empty bottles/can and return them for the refund, you need to file those as income and pay taxes.

UK price is £ 3,600 at today rate that's $ 4,788, The 5DSr is £ 3,899 / $ 3,855 so the MKIV is a huge hike even allowing for the fall in the value of the ££ given the 5D MKIII retails for £ 2,299 / $ 3,057.

Regardless of how good the camera is its bound to affect units sold.

Pricing of Canon in the US: 3.499.- US$
Pricing of Canon Germany: 4.065.- € incl VAT which is net 3415 € net or 3810 US$....
Pricing seems to be a bit unfair, or?

Not really, the far east is the cheapest, there's a slight mark up going to the USA as it's the second biggest market to target and product success there means europe will want in, the third and most difficult the penetrate is Europe as it attracts additional costs for each country.

It's just business.

yes and the price in Ireland is €4299, I found it for €3700 in a European country so will get it when I visit next month!!
Its the same thread as the first one after the announcement, Get over the price or take a trip to the US. Buy or don't buy the choice is yours. There are plenty of other countries in the EU more expensive than Germany's €4065.
