I just got my new 5D mark II. When I take photos , it gives a totally different click sound than my T1i, do you think something wrong with the piece? should I be concerned?, however the pics I took are excellent

5D sounds different from my 7D. Totally different camera, totally different parts. APS-C vs. Full Frame, etc.

Ignore the sound... go shoot! ;D

You must have noticed the size of the huge mirror. It's much bigger than on crop so that's mainly why it's sounding different, lot more clunky.

If you are really worried, go to youtube and watch a few videos. There are always people who like to waste their shutter actuations to show off their camera's burst rate/buffer size etc. You should find 5DII there as well. If yours sound similar, you got nothing to worry.

Enjoy your new toy ;)

Don't worry about it dude, the mirror is much larger and does make a lot more sound. There are always going to be differences between professional and consumer cameras, so unless the pictures are coming out looking like crap or something looks way out of whack, youre fine.

Lucky buzzard! Mine arrived today and it's sitting under my desk at here work. Arg, wanna take pictures soooo bad.

I haven't dropped the shutter yet, but I noticed that the shutter button feels totally different from the 60D.

My situation would have been the same, if it was not friday, when I usually work from home....

Every camera I have ever owned, including 6-7 Canon DSLR's have all made a distinctively different shutter sound. Years ago I was appalled with the rowdy clunk my then new Canon 20D made after the quiet snick of the previous D60 (no not 60D).

In noise sensitive situations something I love about the 1D4 is the option of the "silent" shutter option. It's not silent of course, but spreads the sound out over a longer period. Not exactly sure how this achieved, someone may post how it's done, but it is FAR less obtrusive than the regular release sound.

No, there is nothing wrong with your excellent new camera. You won't even notice it after a day or so.

I got my 5D II on Monday and I definitely noticed a different sound. Most likely the large mirror. It sounds very different than the 7D. I actually think it is smoother motion and not as jarring as my older 1D MK III was.
. much smoother, put both on a tripod and watch the amount of movement in the 1D3 when it fires compared to the 5D it doesnt move at all
