Resolution EF 24-70 2.8 II L against EF 24-70 4.0 IS L

The EF 24-70 4.0 IS L lens is the second best performing Canon lens (resolution) and only a few points behind the the 180 mm Macro lens.

BUT:
The EF 24-70 4.0 IS L lens performs only very good, if your object is a few meters away. If your object is very close to you the IQ is a big step lower (using the macro function makes in my eyes no sense - look before).

If you don´t need f/2.8, want IS and a better build quility (zoom function) get the EF 24-70 4.0 IS L and you don´t regret it.

where did you get that from?

Anyway it doesn't match what I've seen from a number of 24-70 II and 24-70 f4 ISs.
I wonder if you had a bum 24-70 II there. Not that the 24-70 f/4 IS isn't pretty good, IMO it is much better than the 24-105. But neither myself nor just about any other tests I've seen has had the 24-70 f/4 IS handily beating the 24-70 II across the board. The only place I saw it win with the copies I've seen was FF edges at 70mm.

He got it directly from Canon. I think he just forgot to mention that he's talking about the 24-70mm f/4L IS II being the second sharpest Canon lens. You see, Canon sends M.ST prototypes of all their gear several years before release, and he's free to tell everyone about it. He tests them, and gives Canon his opinion for free. He doesn't need Canon to pay him, he makes his income selling bridges that connect Manhattan with the other boroughs.
