Review: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II Via TDP

In regard to the EF 35/1.4L II, however, the evidence is clear enough to me at this point to say that the level of chromatic aberration correction of this lens is good enough to justify an upgrade from the previous model. It's just a question of following through with selling the old lens and looking for a deal on the new one at some point.

After playing with the new 35L II now I find the Lo CA of my 85L II unbearable....I have no idea how I tolerated the intense purple fringing from the 85L II for so many years! LOL

the test doesn't mean as much[/i]. Perhaps I'm just looking for him to be a bit more critical -- curve to a B to make the real A's really stand out.

I understand what you mean, but for me, the question is, should we ask for or do we need more critical/negative reviews that emphasize every negative aspect of a lens, big or small? I'm not so sure. Now, focusing issues are a big deal, I think, compared to for example vignetting at wide open apertures. I really do want to know everything about usability issues that prevents me from getting the shot, and that can't be solved in post. Therefore, I think it is important to emphasize such issues.

TDP sure isn't my only source of information. I use photozone a lot and many reviews on YouTube, but I always get back to TDP to get the more balanced and thorough view.
