Hopefully the R1/R5II and the 7 lenses Canon announce this year will have much smaller backorder durations!

So I actually ordered the 8mm to hold me over and possibly replace the need for the 10-20. I would say that it did a terrific job as a placeholder until it came. Shot a few events and used it to exaggerate a lot of shots I wanted and it was great - no complaints. But having a lens like this in RF mount will be more important to me and I’ve begun my sale of Fuji gear to radically scale back. So I know how I’ll use the lens for sure. It’s obviously not something you need on every shoot.

Me too…me too. It would be nice if we could be informed of all specs for both cameras before they go up for sale too. Lots of variables to consider before buying anything. Haven’t even thought about lenses yet because I honestly have too many as is! Haha The temptation of the 24 or 35mm is slightly curbed because I have the Sigma 24 and 35 that I got for under $800 total for both lenses used from friends. I stopped shooting weddings in 2021 and don’t personally see the need for these right now if I already have 2 great lenses that I seldom use.

B&H notified me that my RF 10-24 has shipped. The order was placed on November 9th. On back order for 206 days. I hope everyone can get theirs soon, but this was pretty crazy.

It's been in stock several times at various vendors since then, but always sold out quickly. I didn't preorder, but was lucky enough to find one at a small shop in February. It's a niche lens, but definitely a fun one.

Don't hold your breath. It's not enough just to preorder, if you want the camera or lens ASAP you have to preorder it within the first hour or two that preorders are live.

Everything! More seriously, just the R5II, an EVF-less body or a 200-ish 1:1 lens with AF.

I have budget for 2 of those 3 options, so I sort of hope Canon won’t announce all 3 GAS!

I’m going to wait for the actual R1 specs to make a decision on that. As for lenses…I’m not sure what’s coming or what might tempt me. A TS-R 14mm would do it.

I did see it pop up here and there on occasion, but I wasn’t aggressively hunting for it either. This isn’t a lens I would use every day like the RF 24-105 f/2.8. But it’s in hand now and I am excited to exaggerate some distortions and perspectives!

Calumet Photographic has them in stock across Germany - bought mine yesterday in a flash. Can’t wait to properly try it out this weekend!
