Canon used to offer 1996 EF 135mm f/2L USM then Sony, Sigma, etc offered a f/1.8 version to rival it.
In 1988 Canon came out with the EF 200mm f/1.8L USM then 2 decades later the RF 200mm f/2L IS USM.
I suspect that in nearly 2 decades from now we may see a RF 200mm f/1.8L IS USM given Laowa, Sigma & Fuji all have a 200mm f/2 with IS.
It also helps that by 2026 there's about 1/2 dozen RF primes & zooms that are missing.
