Second body for Wedding

I have a 5DM3 and a wedding to shoot in June, I'm going to need a second body and I'm loathed to buy another 5DM3...

Not because I don't think it'll do the job, it's because it seems old and boring.. I am interested in the latest technology and ideally I want to be using it (but not so much that I'd buy a new camera every 6 months).

I also have numerous Canon lenses, so switching to Nikon would not be a decision made lightly.

If Canon announced a 5DM4 and it was actually exciting, my decision would probably be easy.. but as it stands, I'm not sure.

So why buy now? Wait until May and decide. If something is announced but is not yet out in sufficient quantities, then rent what you need for the specific job.

That's what I was going to say. Rent one, and maybe a 50 1.2, or some similar awesome wedding lens you don't have. Or borrow one from a friend. Find a photo student to bring along as an assistant, and make them bring the 2nd body.

Why not buy a used 5D2, or a new 6D?

Also June? Seems like a long time from now to sweat this.

I suppose

i) I had some money I got a little excited about the prospect of buying something new that I couldn't wait
ii) Maybe there is time for Canon to make a new announcement before then, your thoughts here were to help me gauge the likelihood.

I better wait until the new year at least I guess

I seriously doubt Canon will announce and ship a 5DIV by June.

Rent one if you need one. It's the "boring" answer but it's the right decision.
