Seeking for opinion about body option.

Hi guys,
I am a wedding and event photographer. Recently i would like to get myself into sports photography.
I have a 5D2 and a 5D3 for my job, since i have a 5D3, 5D2 mainly use to shoot group photos, where situations everyone stand still and capture 3-4 per group then next..then next..then next.........5D2 is used because i wanna save the shutter life of 5D3.

So...since i wanna get myself involved into sports photography...i am considering to sell my 5D2 for a 7D. Would 7D 1.6 crop + 10-22 quality be good enough for group photo tht usually taken by 5D2? would it be able to replace my 5D2 as my back up camera? I know my 5D3 is fast enough to shoot sports..but again..i wanna safe the shutter of the FF for some work require better quality, dof or wide angle etc...

This is difficult for me, because if my 5D3 has something goes wrong, i can use my 5D2, still a FF...but if i switch to 7D...no longer FF...and i dont know about 7D quality as event and wedding work..
Please suggest....

Get a refurbed 1Dmark4? (or even mark 3, although 10 mPix might be too small)
Aps-H, but a nice house for sports, with reach.

But I think that with some playing around with focal length and distance, you could get nice DOF with a 7D too. My concern would be available lighting. 7D is not stellar in bad light (like in a church).

the 1D mark 3 and 4 has APS-H sensors, and good ISO handling.

Exchanging a 5D Mark II for a 7D and adding investment in extra EF-S lenses does not appear to make sense to me. I rather recommend sticking to the 5D Mark II or perhaps upgrading it later to second 5D Mark III. This avoids unnessary complications with your lens kit.

Then again if you already have a good set of wide lenses you may also use a 14mm or 16-35/17-40mm zooms with a 7D. That might make the 7D a worthwhile investment, provided you use lighting equipment more than you would rely on available light.

Why save the 5D MKIII, I dont understand? When it hits the max shutter life just have it serviced. My 40D hit 139,000 and was still going strong (although I know it is good for 150,000)

By the time you hit 150,000 there will probably be a 5D MKIV

Don't know how much a shutter box replacement costs, but i'm guessing it's less than you'd lose by selling a 5dII to get a 7d then a 10-22mm EFS on top
