I don't think there are enough options here. I think the new IS primes are close to as good as L primes but just in sharpness, and sharpness isn't everything. The IS primes are probably better than most of the zooms Canon makes. But even older primes like the 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 are better than most L zooms so that's not really anything new.
